Dubrovnik is a single-screen video project, and its conventional format was adopted for the sake of exploring its potential in preparation for future projects. In this turn-away from installation formats, the single image becomes a limitation that inspires a creative approach rooted in the archeological/survey-like objectives of the installation projects. Neither a narrative nor a documentary, Dubrovnik is an assembly of contingencies, rooted in juxtapositions of light and scale. Contingency itself is the subject matter. Special attention is paid to occupants of the city, who operate both as scale figures and, alternatively, as patterns and rhythms within the fabric.
